The Sun and the Moon

The sun only sets in Ueno.
It twirls six rays and braids them,
lays them out into twists
that cats build their nests in.
The sun doesn't set in Shibuya.
It splits the scent of faces
across every station's
glitter emporium.
The moon rises high in Asakusa.
It weaves through every alley's
ambrosial pit stops
to skyscrapers of plates.
The moon leaves no trace in the bay.
It paddles with ebony limbs
and devours the clams
in their baseball matches.

太陽は上野にのみ沈む。
6本の 光を捻じり 編み込んで
螺旋状にして 置いていく
そこに 猫たちは巣を築く。
太陽は渋谷には沈まない。
振り撒くのは顔の香り
ありとあらゆる駅の
煌めく百貨店の上に。
月は浅草で高く昇る。
間を縫うように 路地裏に並ぶ
芳しいピットストップから
皿の摩天楼へと。
月は湾に跡を残さない。
真っ黒な足を水に浸し
そして 二枚貝を喰らう
彼らが野球の試合中に。

To condense one’s essence into so few words is a difficult feat, especially for Olivia Elektra Willson-Piper, who continues to unearth parts of herself through her ever-evolving poetry.
A dual German-Swedish citizen with permanent residency in Portugal, she has experienced first-hand the magic of words and the stories they carry across continents and languages. As a linguaphile and passionate weaver of words, her aptitude for language transcends translation and dialect through her love of music.
She’s travelled the world as a violinist, exploring hidden corners and catching glimpses of images that she holds in her mind until they pour out onto the page.
Called to create in any way she can, Olivia Elektra also shares her spoken poetry on YouTube, blending otherworldly visuals with lyrical verse to create an immersive storytelling experience.
Her debut poetry collection "Sleep for Dessert", which also highlights Soma Ishii's multidisciplinary spirit in the form of illustrations, is out on October 5th on Amazon.

言語愛好家、そして言葉の織り手としての言語の才能は、音楽への深い愛情から、翻訳や方言に囚われることはない。
バイオリニストとして世界を旅し、人目につかない場所を探検しては、心に留めたイメージの一瞬一瞬を捉え、ページに表現しきた。
またYouTubeで朗読詩も共有しており、別世界のような映像と抒情的な詩を組み合わせて没入型のストーリーテリング体験を生み出している。
デビュー詩集「Sleep for Dessert」は、多分野に開かれた精神を表現した石井草実のイラストレーションにも焦点を当てており、Amazonで2023年10月5日に発売。
