Diego Martina

Diego Martina was born in Italy in 1986. He is a researcher of Japanese literature, a translator, and a poet. After graduating from the Sapienza University of Rome with a degree from the Department of Japanese in the School of East Asian Studies (where he majored in modern and contemporary Japanese literature), he completed a Master’s degree in Japanese literature. He studied abroad at Tokyo University of Foreign Languages and the University of Tokyo. As a translator, he has published Italian translations of Natsume Sōseki’s haiku and Tanikawa Shuntarō’s Nijuoku konen no kodoku (‘Two Billion Light Years of Solitude’). As a poet, his début collection, Moto kano no kisu no bakemono (‘The Ghost of My Ex’s Kisses’) was selected by the singer Hitoto Yō as one of her top three books of 2018. In January 2021, his essay on comparative culture, Godoku no Itaria (‘Misreadings of Italy’), was brought out by Kōbunsha. He is a member of Kuroda Momoko’s Aoi Haiku Group.

1986年、イタリア生まれ。日本文学研究家、翻訳家、詩人。
ローマ・ラ・サビエンツァ大学東洋研究学部日本学科(日本近現代文学専門)学士課程を卒業後、日本文学を専攻、修士課程を修了。東京外国語大学、東京大学に留学。翻訳家としては夏目漱石の俳句集や谷川俊太郎の『二十億光年の孤独』等をイタリア語訳を刊行。詩人としては、処女詩集『元カノのキスの化け物』が読売新聞の書評で「2018 年の3冊」の一つとして歌手・一青窈に選出。2021年1月には、比較文化エッセイ『誤読のイタリア』(光文社)を発表。黒田杏子主宰の「藍生俳句会」会員。
