Actually, without noticing eternity
Gets lighter with time, loses the form and materials,
Eventually the light the soul——a winged poem, if true

Pricking, stinging the emptiness, keeping

時が経つにつれて軽くなり形相も質料もやがては
光さえ喪う 魂とは—翼ある詩 だとすれば

Poet. Winner of the 37th Gendaishi Techo Award (1999). Author of several poetry collections, including Segment Kakera hen (Shichosha, 2006); Sleepy Islands (Shichosha, 2012), which was awarded the 63rd H Prize; Ear, Bamboo Leaf Boat (Shichosha, 2015), which received the 54th Toson Memorial Prize of Rekitei; Asian Dream (Shichosha, 2019); and Poem on Solitariness of Drifted Snow (Shichosha, 2022). Member of the Japan Poets Association. Guest associate professor at Gakushuin University.
