Not dissolving yourself into greenery but, by passing through it,
Humming separating out something from magpies and fresh grass in the green
Depths, the hidden letters and rhymes should be watched and listened to

鵲や嫩草からなにものかを析出するハミング 緑の
深みで眺め聴くべきは秘められた文字と韻律のほう

Poet. Winner of the 37th Gendaishi Techo Award (1999). Author of several poetry collections, including Segment Kakera hen (Shichosha, 2006); Sleepy Islands (Shichosha, 2012), which was awarded the 63rd H Prize; Ear, Bamboo Leaf Boat (Shichosha, 2015), which received the 54th Toson Memorial Prize of Rekitei; Asian Dream (Shichosha, 2019); and Poem on Solitariness of Drifted Snow (Shichosha, 2022). Member of the Japan Poets Association. Guest associate professor at Gakushuin University.
